Energy Training and Research Centre (ETRC) and Chinese company LONGi Solar Technology Limited here Monday signed a cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which LONGi Solar will provide technical and financial support for conducting two-month training on Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system for power generation at the ETRC Lahore. Sharing his views as chief guest on this occasion, Country Manager (Pakistan) LONGi Solar China, Ali Majid said that LONGi Solar headquartered located in Xi’an, was professional manufacturer of high-efficiency mono-crystalline solar cells and modules.
He added that LONGi Solar would soon possess 5.5GW of cells and 5GW of modules, incorporating 1GW of overseas capacity. With the obvious advantage of significant experience in mono-crystalline silicon products, LONGi Solar had shipped over 1GW in 2015 within mainland China and was now ready to enter overseas markets with branches in USA, Germany and Japan. Ali Majid mentioned that the purpose of this support programme/course was to combat the solar workforce gap because of rising demand of solar work force in Pakistan due to the hike in electricity rate. Engineer Faiz Bhutta, Head of Energy Training and Research Centre (ETRC) and a reputed Solar Consultant and Trainer in Pakistan, had trained more than 3,000 people in Pakistan on solar, micro hydro and energy management.
On this occasion, Faiz Bhutta said that the ETRC was a SECP (Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan) registered Not-For-Profit Organisation emerged out of the merger of already well-established Energy Training Centre and Pakistan Renewable Academy (PRENAC-www.prenac.org) in order to have one integrated platform with addition of research area to enhance its capacity toward full energy training and research portfolio. He shared that the prime focus of the programme would be on towards green, clean and fossil free energy, and research focus would be toward energy policy, regulations, markets and standards.
